March for Babies Families: The Geller-Hatches

Meet Annika Geller-Hatch. This young lady is what many would call a miracle. Born at just 26 weeks gestation, weighing in at 1 lb 4 oz and just 12.2 inches long, Annika is now a healthy 16.5 month old with almost no lasting effects of her prematurity, aside from being small.

Annika now weighs 15 lbs and is 28 inches long. She is a happy and healthy little girl, who loves music, dancing and baby dolls. Her mom says, “She has had few effects from her prematurity and is a miracle to all her friends and family.” This family includes her mom, Vanessa Geller, dad Douglas Hatch, and her three older brothers, Antonio, 15, Nehemiah, 7, and Aiden, 6.

The Geller-Hatch clan will participate in their second March for Babies this year. They created a team last year as a tribute to how well Annika has done, as well as to help premature babies born to other families. Vanessa says, “If it weren't for the excellence and support of the NICU nurses, Neonatologists and staff of the Hospital, I don't know if my daughter would be where she is today. I was able to fully pump breastmilk the entire NICU stay, and living over an hour from the hospital, I felt my daughter was in the best care anyone could give her. And my hope is any money we raise will ensure that for other families.”
