Boston's Team Callum Featured in MOD National Newsletter

Little fighter

"On August 6, 2010, our son Callum was born 15 weeks early. He endured a grueling 4-month stay in the NICU during which he battled complication after complication," explains Callum's mother, Christine O'Brien. "We almost lost him several times, but thanks to the incredible staff at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Newborn Intensive Care Unit in Boston and to the March of Dimes, Callum did more than survive, he thrived!"

Today, Callum is the light of Christine and her husband Michael's life. They say that their "little fighter" is one of the happiest children they've ever met, and he's inspired them to help other babies and families.

Just months after Callum came home from the hospital, Christine and Michael started a March for Babies family team. With 29 participants, Team Callum raised $9,957 in their first walk. In 2012, they're hoping to break $10,000.

"It is impossible to fully express how grateful we are that Callum survived. We know in large part it's due to March of Dimes-funded research," continues Christine. "For the rest of our lives, we plan to do what we can to give back to this organization that gave us the greatest gift of all: our son.
"We hope you feel the same way!"
