This is the first year The Gates Girls are walking in the Springfield March for Babies. Sharon Gates is a new volunteer on the Family Team Committee and has done a great jog. She jumped in and got right to work and we are so appreciative of her dedication.
The Gates Girls
As a couple, Kris and I have always been planners. For example, upon getting married, we planned on having children. We had our first in October 2006 and we were lucky enough to become pregnant with twins that were scheduled to be born in late October 2009. However, in the case of the twins, things did not go according to plan. One twin was growing faster than the other and the wonderful Doctors and Nurses decided it was in the best interest of Twin B (Olivia) who was growing at a slower pace, to be delivered early. They said she will thrive better in the NICU. We trusted them and sure enough, Olivia and Corrine were born 7 weeks early. It was a very happy and joyous day but also a day that brought on some nerves when we saw such small babies. Corrine weighed 4 lbs 6 ounces and Olivia was 2 lbs 10 ounces. Corrine spent 2 weeks in NICU and Olivia spent 1 month in NICU. We were very lucky they were just there to grow and not for any other complications. We truly believe this is a result of the research and learning supported by organizations like March of Dimes.

Kris and I appreciate the importance of paying it forward and helping others and that is why we decided to donate our time and money to March of Dimes.
